Hamsteria Guide & Walkthrough
Complete guide with tips, level strategies, and co-op techniques to help you beat Hamsteria.
Basic Controls & Techniques
Master these fundamentals before tackling the harder sections.
Gentle Taps Over Holding
Use gentle taps instead of holding the controls. Tapping gives you more precision and prevents overshooting on narrow platforms and seesaws.
Brake to Restabilize
When landing on platforms or seesaws, brake first (Q/E or RB/LB) to stop your momentum, then proceed carefully. This is essential for precision sections.
Micro-Adjustments Matter
Small angle corrections are more effective than big movements. When stuck at an awkward angle, use tiny taps to adjust rather than full spins.
One Brake, One Push
For turning on narrow areas: one player brakes while the other pushes forward or backward. This gives you controlled rotation without falling off.
Use the Countdown (B)
Press B (gamepad) or C (keyboard) for the in-game countdown before synchronized moves. It avoids Discord/voice lag so both players move at exactly the same time.
Shake When Stuck
If wedged in a corner or stuck on geometry, use Shake (Ctrl or X) to free yourself. Sometimes shaking is faster than respawning.
Level-Specific Strategies
Tips for the most challenging sections in the game.
The Cylinder
Many players find this the hardest section. Use brake frequently and adjust your angle before each rotation. Go slow—rushing causes you to spin out. Break after each quarter turn to restabilize.
Seesaws & Bridges
Sync with countdown (B), then both move together. Brake when you reach each bridge segment. If the seesaw tips too far, one player should brake while the other adjusts position.
Side Gravity / Anti-Gravity Areas
These sections (often called anti-gravity) change your perspective—the camera rotates with gravity. Take a moment to understand the new orientation before moving. What was 'forward' might now be 'down'.
Half Pipe
The half pipe, especially the bottom, is one of the trickiest sections. Use brake often and make small adjustments. Sync with countdown (B or C) before big moves. Take it slow—rushing leads to spin-outs.
Moving Platforms
Keep your momentum when jumping to moving platforms. Time your approach so you land when the platform is closest. Brake immediately after landing.
Ramps & Launchers
Going steadily onto ramps works better than rushing at full speed. Brake at the top of ramps to control your descent. For launchers, align your angle first, then commit.
Narrow Paths
Communicate who leads. Move slowly with gentle taps. If you start to tip, the outer player should brake while the inner player adjusts. Patience beats speed here.
Co-op Communication Tips
Teamwork makes the dream work—here's how to coordinate effectively.
Decide Who Leads
Before narrow sections, decide who goes first and who follows. The leader calls out when to move; the follower matches their timing.
Call Out Your Actions
Say 'braking', 'going forward', or 'going back' so your partner knows what you're doing. Silent play leads to desyncs and falls.
Use 3-2-1-Go
For simultaneous actions, use the in-game countdown (B) or verbal '3-2-1-go'. This ensures you both start at the same moment despite any voice chat delay.
Stay Calm Under Pressure
When things go wrong, panicking makes it worse. If you're falling, communicate calmly—sometimes you can save it with coordinated braking.
Take Breaks Together
The game is intentionally difficult. If frustration builds, take a break. Coming back fresh often leads to clearing sections you were stuck on.
General Tips
Miscellaneous advice to improve your experience.
- The game has frequent checkpoints—don't panic if you fall, you'll respawn nearby. If things feel unstable after many respawns, use Pause → Saved Checkpoints to reload from an earlier point.
- The game download is only ~92MB, so it's quick to install.
- Gamepads are recommended for co-op—they give better analog control than keyboard.
- The last levels are the hardest by design. Persistence pays off.
- Watch community playthroughs on YouTube if you're stuck—seeing others' strategies helps.
